On August 10, the chief guest Prof
Anthony J. Leggett will visit the campus; meet the director and deans of
IIITA at Jhalwa. He will meet 200 science students of nearby districts like
Pratapgarh, Faizabad, Sulatanpur, Varanasi, Kaushambi, Jaunpur, Fatehpur,
Raibareli, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Sondbhadra etc and interact with them how to
create interest in fundamental science like physics, mathematics and
chemistry on August 11.
Nobel laureate will also address the
students and faculty of Allahabad University, Harish Chandra Research
Institute, MNNIT and others during his stay at IIITA.
Madhur Pathak will present Kathak on
August 11 while Unnikrishnan’s troupe will stage Kathakali dance on August
12. Nearly 500 students of two academic sessions 2007 and 2008 will be
awarded B Tech, M Tech, MBA, MSCLIS and Ph D degree. Toppers of every stream
will be conferred with gold, silver and bronze medals.
Big TV screens have been fixed up in all
the four blocks of the campus to telecast the convocation. The institute’s
Tritnetra team has prepared to live webcast the entire convocation ceremony
on August 12.
