Math, as I explained was located on the banks of the sacred river Ganga (locally known as Hooghly) and it was a remarkable place of peace and serenity. Many tourists visit this head quarters of the Ramakrishna Mission setup by revered Swami Vivekanandan.
Inside the Math I phoned the telephone number I had with me for the Math to find out where my brother would be. They told me that it would be half an hour before they could get to him. I explained to them that I am already in the Math and asked them where he would be. At this, I was told that he would be in the PPTC. (pre probationers training centre). I later found that I was standing close to the PPTC and walked up to the nearest building in the sprawling Math compound.
I was told by an elderly Sannyasi (when I told him that he is in the PPTC) that my brother would be attending a class which I could see being undertaken before me in a distance. He advised me to wait before the class so that my brother would probably see me and come out. Even though I did as advised, none came out. After about twenty minutes, the class concluded and trainees came out in mass.
I inquired about my brother and they asked me whether I was his brother. I answered in the affirmative. They seemed to have sensed that from the facial appearance. Trainees were in a dress that would be appropriate for a trainee Sannyasi. They said something between them trying to help me. Soon they decided that one of them would accompany me into the building where my brother had been.
Building where the classes were held, had a hostel type setup with a floor above apart from the ground floor. That I found, was the first floor where the trainees would stay. Each of them had been holding some steel plates which I assumed they used for receiving their food supplies.
