At last leader K. Karunakaran has returned back to Congress family. Kochi marine drive witnessed another historic political event on 1st February 2008.
Thousands of Congress workers from all over Kerala marched towards Kochi. They marched with the slogan, “where leader stands is where Congress workers stay”. This was literally correct while considering the number of Karunakaran loyalists in the public meeting. The presence of former KTDC chairperson and daughter of Karunakaran, Padmaja Venugopal was noticeable.
NCP President and son of leader K. Muraleedharan alleged that his father had deceived him and his followers. He also clarified there would not be even personal relations with K. Karunakaran. He accused the leader of being mislead by his daughter, Padmaja leading caucus.
But leader proved yet again his enormous influence among common party workers by organizing such a massive re-entry rally. The central leadership is also satisfied with their decision to call Karunakaran back to the mother party. There had been a report that K.P.C.C president Ramesh Chennithala and opposition leader Oommen Chandy disliked the returning of the leader. But both the leaders attended the meeting and urged the need of party unify.
Karunakaran is a leader who knows the pulse of party workers. He has always been a leader of common people. Now he seems to prove that Congress party could be even stronger with his leadership. Congress leader Mohsina Kiduai also told the reporters that the central leadership would entitle the senior most leaders with appropriate charge. Central leadership is looking forward Karunakaran’s contribution to the party now onwards. In Kerala there are lot of political issues that should be brought in front. Until now Congress party had not been active in people’s issues. Sky rocketing commodity price, H.M.T land deal issue, education policies, land-mafia etc are few among the top issues in Kerala. As the main party among opposition, Congress couldn’t lead a serious public protest against CPM regime.
According to some political observers, now it is the turn of leader K. Karunakaran to show his political tactics. Congress central leadership is planning to make the party circles more effective. At last leader K. Karunakaran has also returned back to Congress family.
