Budget 2007-2008 is being unanimously accepted to have addressed the actual problems instead of just a policy announcement session which had been the recent trend.
Dr. Issac has done his home work reasonably well and also rose to the expectation that the state had for him as an expert. Dr. Issac’s budget precisely has focused on rising revenue receipts, increasing investment in the social projects and bettering the economic condition of the state.
However the budget is being criticized to have ignored long term sustainable development projects and employment guarantee schemes which is the need of the time. Any budget is also an image-setter for the government which prepares it, so obviously Dr. Thomas Issac’s budget has provided great stress to agricultural and allied sector ’cause the LDF (left democratic front) was drifting away from its typical image of a party of the common men.
Provisions to interfere in the development sector and the project to consistently bring down the deficit will surely have a positive impact on the state’s economic condition.
