If you ask which event got the most applause at the fest, I would say it was the fire escape stunt performed by the noted magician Nilambur Pradeep Kumar at the ‘Muthalakulam Maidan’.
The stunt was inaugurated by mayor Baskaran by chaining the magician. Pradeep Kumar was chained tight with over twelve locks and was lowered into a glass box which contained over hundred reptiles and poisonous insects. Then the box was lowered into a heap of hay which was then lighted. As the flame raised high Pradeep kumar astonished the viewers by coming out safe with a national flag in one hand and a bag containing the reptiles and the insects in the other. This was the third such successful performance by the magician. The first two were in 1999 and 2000 respectively. Ambulance and fire force units had been on standby to avoid any mishap.
