Because of the non-availability of adequate supply of power, the district is dependent, to a major extent, on the supply from the neighboring Karnataka state. The district has no power projects. It has three substations producing 110KW of power, one each at Kanhangad, Kubannur and Manjeswar and one 220 KV sub station at Mailatti.
