International Book Fair organized at the Corporation Stadium (S.K Pottekkad Nagar) as part of the CPM’s 20th Party Congress attracted many book lovers. Wide collections of English and Malayalam books from politics to spirituality were arranged at the fair.
It was a golden chance to purchase the complete series of Capital authored by Karl Max. The book was available in complete series for Rupees 1300, according to the publishers. All three books in Omnibus edition was a special attraction.
The Malayalam translation of Capital, titled Mooladhanam got good enquiries said the representatives of Kerala Sahithya Pravarthaka Co-operative Society who sold the book at their stall.
Biographies of Stalin and Lenin also attracted visitors. Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables, Khaleel Jibran’s and William Shakespeare’s books were also in display at the fair.
Political books, released at the venue of the party congress also attracted visitor’s attention. Left Hand Drive by Sitaram Yechuri, Food Matters by Vrinda Karat, Amir Hyder Khan by Dr.Ayub Mizra, Reminiscences, In the cause of Dalits were the books published at the party congress.
The book on the history of Communist party in Kozhikode district was available at the fair. A book on the former district collector Dr. P.B. Saleem, titled Collector, Snehathinte Kaiyoppu (Collector, the signature of love) was first of its kind, claimed Lipi Publishers.
Students had enough scope to familiarize with as many as books on various subjects of their interest apart from novels, short stories, poems and political biographies of legendary leaders.
Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishat, Lipi, H&C, Gandhigram, National Book Stall, DC Books, Poorna, Mythri, CPM-Chintha, Fabian,Green, Sign, Sree Narayana Guru Kulam, Prajashakthi were among the publishers who joined the event.
