Even smoke can show you something, if you observe the subtle and swift movements in its own sequence, believes M.Ramesh Babu, a senior photographer. But capturing the smoke forms as it appears like amazing shapes is a hard task because only fractions of seconds are left to catch it. To him, it is an innovative form of artistic expression. ‘Reflections’, an exhibition of Ramesh’s shoots in the smoke, concluded at Shrishti Art Gallery in Kozhikode.

Ramesh says that smoke is also a flexible medium that forms and diffuse images. Right click at the right moment is vital for capturing a smoke form. He is trying to introduce a new way of photographic exploration, a rare form from all other methods.
As an innovation in photography, Ramesh says it is the minute way of observing our surroundings. This method gave him sleepless moments and utmost patience to capture the images and make them in perfection, applying digital blending with colors.
‘Smoke from the burning incense sticks has multiple dimensions that can form into images. ‘ He spends hours to get the figures from the smoke, thanks to his passion. A macro photographic genre, it’s a challenging way of catching figures.
Smoke may turn to unexpected forms that fill a keen observer’s mind with curiosity. According to Ramesh Babu, it is the way of exploring new scopes in digital photography. ‘There may have many media to persuade you to the art of photography. But this is unfamiliar to majority.
This method helps you to develop observation power in your own way.’-says Ramesh.
