When music unified students of yesteryears, now spread into different walks of life at Zamorins’ Guruvayoorappan College (ZGC), Kozhikode, it became a memorable day for alumni. Their whole hearted contributions added rhythm and spirit to the musical extravaganza.
Famous musicians and politicians participated in the event, despite their hectic schedules. Former students from far away places attended with families to make the get together an exclusive one.
Guruvandanam, a component of the event that felicitated the senior students who have proved their mettle in their respective fields, became a spirited platform.
Music Director Vidyadharan Master was the chief guest of the programme titled NADAM at Kozhikode; aptly expanded as Nostalgic Assembly of Devout and Ardent Musicians.
Eminent lyricist Kaithapram Damodharan Nampoothiri, Music Director L.Sasikant, Mankada Damodharan Master, Prof.K.V Sasi Varma and Prof.K.Narayanan Nampoothiri were honored.
Minister for Social Welfare Dr.M.K.Muneer inaugurated the function at ZGC campus and sang evergreen Malayalam popular hit Parijatham Thirumizhithurannu.
Kaithapram Damodarana Nampoothiri presented Malayalam hit song ‘Engane Njan Urakkendu Engane Njan Unarthendooo.’ He remembered that his second stage of creative life developed through this campus.

This was followed by a gala where songs composed and directed by these personalities were reproduced as such. The rendering of these songs by the erstwhile troupe had won them accolades during their student days. The fallen decades of their meritorious performance and leadership in the field of music was recaptured meaningfully.
With interactions and rebuilding of bonds, the event turned a rare of its kind in recent times.
