Night fall in the rainy season is really nostalgic for those who hold their childhood memories on village life close to their heart wherever they go… Far from home, they remind them of passion- filled moments of life in its true essence… When one experiences this sight and sound after a long break, it is still more exciting…

Lovely cuckoos have begun their sweet song. Birds in flocks are flying back home, to reach their young ones. The bees and flies are also moving fast. Beetles have made their world lively.

As our senses sharpen, one can also hear the sound of bats flying in search of plantain fruits. They are on their way to land on the plantain leaves, to hang upside down and eat banana. Squirrels had just gone, after searching for nectar on it.

Sun has moved to its resting zone behind the horizon. The day is gradually bidding farewell…

The sky is turning dark and blue.

The light of fire-flies is spreading all over. It resembles a replica of the cosmos in a miniature form.

It brightens the wild dark night with its magic glitter and attracts children who look through the open windows to enjoy the sight and sound of rainy night.

Time is ripe for Nature’s orchestra.

Small frogs in the wet lands and nearby ponds have started their beacon of symphony. When crickets in full swing joined the team, the real concert has begun.

Numerous creatures, both big and small were eagerly waiting for their turn. Greek partridge, after its usual oozing sound faded behind the jackfruit tree.

Owls appeared in the scene with a look and style, “Time is for me”. Foxes howled from distant bushes.

Rain has poured energy upon coconut leaves with much vigor and vitality. Coconut trees are the dwelling place of as many as birds and squirrels. This erect palm keeps its trunk wonderfully dry even in heavy rains. Falling of rain drops through the narrow leaves is so attractive.

Powerful water- falls from the rocks and hard stones make a rhythm. If one opens his eyes towards these wonderful expressions of nights, there may have more stories of earth and heaven.

This spontaneous percussion of nightfall starts from sunset and lasts until the dawn blooms next day with morning twittering.

Rumbles of thunder and sparkles of lightning add color to the night’s celebration.

At nightfall, every sound has a special rhythm enhanced through the sublime beauty of night. It carries one swiftly to yester years of gay and joy.

Showery nights are always charming and seducing. Nature is vibrant with love, beauty and passion.

A cool breeze came along from the western sky.

It gently thrills the mind and body and reminds one of the evergreen moments in various stages of life; varying from the admiring and inquisitive mind of childhood, fantasies of adolescence and passion- exploding days of honeymoon.

Elders would sit and observe the serenity of country life and some times fly to the spiritual world in the rainy nights with wonderful stories for the young ones.

Children are always attracted to the fast moves of thin tall areca nut trees. Swaying of areca nut trees is a beautiful sight amidst rains.

They are excited to play in the puddle and to splash muddy water pools in the courtyard while night is falling near.

Kids search for probable rainbows and try to grasp the colours in sequence.

Running around in search of suitable papers and making paper boats out of them to play in the rainwater to be drained off is another excitement for kids.

The toddlers take the opportunity to exhibit their skills in nursery rhymes… “Rain, rains go away …” Though they never wish for the same!

The care and affection of parents during this special time is more enjoyable while one is so young.

Farmers working in paddy fields get more active and excited and hurry to finish off with transplanting or weeding during rainy evenings wearing traditional palm umbrellas.

Poets and writers have penned the magical spell of night rain.

The beauty of Nature is habituated by all the elements in and around. Even the little sound of rain- drops falling on leaves enthralls ones’ mood.

With the dark clouds, small showers, whispering breeze, the night is beautiful.
